Any given Sunday family members, friends, co-workers and strangers strive to influence you to act out of character. Some people bend to the will of the world, while others stick to the script no matter what this world has to offer. With that being said, the power word of the day is INTEGRITY.
In the US Navy, they drilled the value of integrity into our work ethic and life choices. By Navy standards, integrity is, "Doing the right thing when no one is watching." When no one is watching, your mind’s eye sees all, and memories have been known to cripple the toughest jokers.
In the long run it's better to keep your integrity, by thinking before you perform an unworthy act. One of my mother's favorite quotes is, "There is no down side to doing the right thing." Ponder that quote for a minute. Could you really go wrong with that philosophy in life?
This weekend, a random guy at the club, tested my integrity. I don't know what his issue was or who he had an issue with, but he approached me and said, "I'll give you a hundred dollars, to knock that guy out." With zero hesitation, I responded, "I'm good my man." This guy didn't catch my drift and proceeded to offer me more money. After I refused one thousand dollars, he asked me, "How much money would it take?" Without a joking bone in my body, I responded, "You don't have enough money."
As I walked off, on that in inconsiderate prick, I felt like a million bucks for two reasons. Number one, I know that money is a good servant, but a bad master. And number two, I walked away with my goals, dreams, and freedom intact.
When you compromise your integrity, you put yourself at risk for judgement and punishment. Integrity keeps you loyal too your family, dreams, conscious and everything else you value. Having rock solid integrity is true power. With that being said, keep your integrity on 100%.
